Ladies Night Out at Daniel’s Vineyard

If you have been following me for very long, you already know I have an affinity for wine tasting. So when Daniel’s Vineyard invited me to check out their facility in McCordsville, Indiana, I jumped at the chance!

Daniel’s Family Vineyard & Winery is located about 30 minutes northeast of Indianapolis. This family-owned and operated, full production winery and event center sits on a beautiful property overlooking more than 14,000 grapevines.

I was long overdue to check out this nearby Hoosier winery.

So I gathered two of my best gal pals on a Tuesday evening and set out for ladies night at the vineyard!

Wine Tasting

Upon arrival, we made a beeline for the tasting bar and introduced ourselves to Wayne. I like to refer to him as Wayne the Wine Guy!

Wayne inquired about each of our wine preferences and reviewed the tasting sheet to indicate which varieties were currently available for tasting. After some expert guidance from Wayne, we each had our unique tasting plan mapped out.

While Wayne prepared our tasting baskets, we took our seats at the exquisite table near the impressive pizza oven. (More on food in just a bit!) We were feeling pretty fancy for a Tuesday night!

With Covid not quite in the rearview mirror, the wine tasting experience at Daniel’s Vineyard has been modified for everyone’s safety. It is such a fun and unique set-up, I have a feeling it will actually outlive Covid!

Wayne brought us each a basket with a tasting sheet, plastic cups, and our wine selections in individual tiny bottles. So adorable!!!

The tasting sheet guides you through your own self-guided wine tasting experience. But Wayne gave Traveling Tanya and friends the royal treatment, sitting with us as we sipped. He offered background insight on each of the wines as well as the history and running of the vineyard. (Because we asked, he even gave us a brief tour of the wine production area. It never hurts to ask!)

My crew and I all tend to favor the sweet wines, and we had plenty of fabulous options to choose from. My tasting experience included the Reisling 2019, the Love Rosé, the Rosé 2017, and the Fireside Sangria. I honestly liked them all, but the Reisling and Sangria won my heart (and came home with me)!

Wine tasting at Daniel’s Vineyard includes 4 generous pours and runs $12. Which is well worth it for the quality and amount of wine plus the overall experience.

Food Options

It’s always a good idea to have some food in your stomach when you are wine tasting, and Daniel’s Vineyard has that covered too.  They offer a variety of artisan pizzas as well as a few appetizers that are perfect for nibbling and sharing.

We opted for the Charcuterie box, and it was the perfect amount for our party of three. We dove into the assortment of cheeses, locally cured meats, and fresh bread. Yum!

Given that we had all fed our families and eaten dinner before we set out for ladies night (like good moms do!) that charcuterie box more than satisfied us. But I plan to return next time with an empty belly to feast on their BBQ chicken pizza!

They also feature a daily wine slushie, which on this night happened to be mango flavored. Technically this isn’t food, but we ordered one…with three straws…and called it dessert!

Pick Your Night

Having thoroughly enjoyed our wine tasting experience at Daniel’s Vineyard, I would say any night is a good night to grab your girlfriends or significant other and pop in.

Being the cost-conscious woman I am, I was elated when I found out Tuesday is BOGO wine bottle night! If you are gonna buy one bottle of wine and the next one is free, you go home with two bottles!

If you plan to stock your wine cellar, I definitely recommend a Tuesday outing to Daniel’s Vineyard!

When you want to relax and listen to live music, Friday nights and Saturday afternoons are the time to go. Make it a family affair and bring the kids on Monday to take advantage of the Kids Eat Free deal.

Check out the Daniel’s Vineyard calendar, and you will find a good excuse to visit any day of the week!

Host an Event

Before calling it a night, Wayne indulged us with a quick tour of the winery’s second level. We took a peek at the spacious ballroom and imagined the elaborate weddings and festive celebrations that take place here.

With both indoor and outdoor seating upstairs the venue can accommodate large and small events alike.

I hope to be invited to a swanky event at Daniel’s Vineyard someday! But I have a feeling on my next visit to this premier Indiana winery (if the weather cooperates) you’ll find me relaxing outside with a glass of wine in hand as I gaze out across the vineyard.
