Indiana’s Only Winery with On-Site Lodging
Am I the only one who thinks a winery with on-site lodging is a brilliant idea?!
When I set out to plan a girls’ getaway with my mom squad, I knew wine would be involved. Once I found out that Patoka Lake Winery was the only Indiana winery with on-site lodging, our destination was decided!
The downside to a day spent wine tasting with friends is figuring out transportation home. It is important to drink responsibly, so picking a designated driver or arranging an Uber is a must. But when you get to spend the night right above the winery, everyone can join in the fun all night long!
I previously spilled the beans about our adventures in Patoka Lake Winery’s tasting room, and now I’m excited to share what you will find on the winery’s second story.
Winery Suites
Patoka Lake Winery has three winery suites located just above the winery. Each suite is a bit different, but they are all luxurious!
With four ladies along for this wine weekend, we booked winery suites 1 and 2.
Both suites include a living room with a gorgeous gas fireplace and a well-stocked kitchenette.
When moms travel together you can bet plenty of snacks have been packed!
Both suites boast king beds, but suite 1 includes a separate bedroom. Whereas the bed in suite 2 is tucked away behind a partial wall.
Each suite includes a bathroom with a large jetted tub and high-end finishes. And yes, I pampered myself with a long soak in the tub!
The bathroom in suite 2 is especially impressive and massive!
Wifi and multiple TVs are just a few of the included amenities. Our gang opted to go full-on slumber party as we donned our pjs and all hopped in one bed with tasty desserts to stream Wine Country on my laptop.
It was the perfect movie for our wine weekend and helped ensure we didn’t let all the wine we consumed to allow us to drift off to sleep too early!
Given that our stay was in early February and the temperatures were pretty frigid, we didn’t spend much time on the spacious balcony overlooking the winery’s property. But we did enjoy the spectacular view!
You can bet we will enjoy some fine wine while sitting on that balcony during our next stay!
Silo Suites
Just to the side of the winery, you can’t miss the two shiny silos. But these are no ordinary silos.
They house two more beautiful suites. We did not stay in the silo suites but got to take a quick peek inside. Each silo contains a luxuriously appointed, two-story, circular suite.
The upstairs was especially inviting and romantic with cathedral ceilings and the jetted tub right in the bedroom. I think the silo suites are best suited for a romantic getaway with your sweetie!
Winery Tour
One fabulous perk of staying overnight at Patoka Lake Winery is a behind-the-scenes tour. One of the winery owners, Heather, took us on a private tour of the inner workings of the winery.
A few of us geeked out over the chemistry and instruments involved in making delicious wine.
We marveled at the machinery and even got to enjoy a sample straight from the big metal bins.
I’ll admit to being a little tipsy by this point in our trip, so many of the technical aspects of winemaking went right over my head. But I sure did have fun, and the tour was a highlight of our stay at Patoka Lake Winery.
I think I’ll leave the winemaking to the experts, and I’ll stick with wine tasting!
Wine Tasting
Another perk of staying in one of the suites…you get two free vouchers for wine tasting!
Pop on down to the winery during business hours and enjoy 10 generous tastings from Patoka Lake Winery’s vast array of wines from dry to sweet. And don’t forget about their famous slushies.
The winery was a bit busy when we first arrived. I guess we aren’t the first ones to discover this amazing watering hole!
With plenty of tables and places to enjoy a glass (or two) of wine just off of the tasting room, we didn’t mind waiting a bit. Plus we had rooms just upstairs and no curfew, so why rush our wine tasting experience.
You can also rent space at the winery for private parties and weddings. Whether you are planning your own girls’ weekend or a romantic weekend for two, Patoka Lake Winery is an ideal setting. Why not reserve all five suites for a group vacation that is sure to be memorable!
With lots of things to do in the area and plenty of Hoosier hospitality, a trip to Patoka Lake Winery is always a good idea.
If you haven’t already read about our wine tasting shenanigans, what are you waiting for?! And now that you have the full picture of what this awesome winery has to offer, it’s time to plan your trip to Patoka Lake Winery!
Have you spent the night at a winery? Tell me where it is and you can bet it will show up in a future blog post!
